Gender Sensitivity

A society that accepts diversity, believes in inclusion and fosters equality is a healthy, progressive and a productive way. GRD-IMT college brought forth Gender Sensitivity Cell in the year 2015, with the aim of facilitating gender-inclusive awareness, to encourage dialogue around gender equality.

The Cell constitutes of a Chairperson, Staff, and Student Coordinators from each department which is represented by a male and female coordinator.

At the outset, the coordinators were sensitized to understand the gender terminologies, objectives of the Cell and discussed their own aspirations for a gender equal society. This session helped us to plan activities at the college level.

Main objective of Gender Sensitivity Cell are:

• To make the young boys and girl’s gender sensitive and create positive values that supports the girls and their rights.

• To provide overall guidance to the peer group in integrating/mainstreaming gender in all activities of the Institution in the form of focused group discussions, debates, poster making competitions etc.
• To provide an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to understand the social and cultural constructions of gender that shapes the experiences of women and men in society.
• To generate the awareness in regard to equality in law, social system and democratic activities.
